ABM network
No-charge deposits can be made in Canada using Manulife Bank Access Cards in deposit-taking ABMs displaying THE EXCHANGE logo. By using these ABMs, Manulife Bank Access Cardholders can also make withdrawals without incurring convenience fees charged by other financial institutions.
To find THE EXCHANGE Network ABMs, which are located throughout Canada, visit the ABM locator on THE EXCHANGE website. When in the United States, you can use your Manulife Bank Access Card for debit transactions at locations displaying The ACCEL logo and at over 26,000 ABMs2 displaying THE EXCHANGE logo.
Secure chip technology
Manulife Bank Access Cards issued after October 25, 2010 are embedded with a computer microchip. The chip stores your debit card information in an even more secure format than previous technologies, to better prevent criminals from stealing that information to make counterfeit cards.
Protect your PIN
Always keep your Personal Identification Number (PIN) secret. If your Access Card is lost or stolen or if you believe someone else knows your PIN, notify us immediately anytime at 1-877-765-2265. Review our list of basic PIN safety tips to learn how you can reduce your risk of bank card fraud.
While there have been cases involving fake terminals that were not connected to the Interac network which did not process transactions, most debit card fraud occurs when criminals obtain a person's PIN through "shoulder surfing" with a hidden camera or by convincing the cardholder to disclose their PIN. When you're using your card at an ABM or point of sale (debit), shield or hide the keypad as you enter your PIN.
What we do about fraud
Manulife Bank employs a team of fraud specialists to review daily transactions. They are trained to recognize account activity anomalies based on known fraud techniques. This team also works with law enforcement and other bank fraud detectives to help catch and prosecute individuals and "fraud rings" whenever possible.
