Waiving commission

You have the option to waive a portion or all of your commission to enhance your client’s interest rate. In an increment of either half or all, indicate on the application how much of your commission (50% or 100%) that you would like to waive. Waiving commission is only available for non-registered accounts.

Note: When completing your own application, make sure to have another advisor (or licensed marketing assistant) sign the Representative assertions section to confirm they have seen and validated your identification. Please also include their name and phone number on the application.

Your clients can apply for the Manulife All-In Banking Package whenever it’s convenient for them – at home, on the go, or when they’re meeting with you. The application should take only five minutes to complete.

To offer the discounted monthly rate to customers, you’ll need a custom web link to the online application. It’s easy to set up with the help of your Business Development Consultant. Then, either send your custom link to your clients so they can complete the application when it’s convenient for them, or complete the application together when you meet.

Please note: while you may assist your clients, you can’t complete these online applications by yourself. Only your clients will be able to answer all of the personal questions asked.

There are three ways to apply for a Personal Advantage Account. Here are some tips for choosing the method that’s right for you and your clients.

Your clients can apply online

Your clients can apply for a new personal non-registered Canadian-dollar Advantage Account whenever it’s convenient for them – at home, on the go, or when they’re meeting with you. The application should take five minutes to complete, or even less if your client already has an account at Manulife Bank.

To ensure you are linked to the account as their advisor, you will need a custom web link (URL) to the online application. It’s easy to set up with the help of your Business Development Manager. Then, either send your custom link to your clients so they can complete the application when it’s convenient for them, or complete the application together when you meet.

Please note, although you may assist your clients, you cannot complete these online applications by yourself; only your clients will be able to answer all the personal questions asked.

Complete the Personal Deposit Account Application (AB0168E) (PDF) and have your client sign it. Please be sure to print the CDIC brochure (PDF) for the client.

Note: If there is no cheque attached to the application, you can fax it to 1-866-840-6425. Otherwise, please mail the application along with the cheque to the address indicated on the cover page. Please do not do both as this could result in duplicate accounts.

Using a paper application

Complete the Personal Deposit Account Application (AB0168E) (PDF) and have your client sign it. 

(Please go through the checklist on the cover page to ensure all requirements are fulfilled.)

A couple of notes

  • To be eligible for a Manulife Bank $US Advantage Account, clients must already have a $US account in the same name at another Canadian financial institution. This information needs to be completed on the Funds Transfer section of the application and a personalized void cheque or Bank Account Confirmation Statement must be provided.
  • We can’t accept cheques from foreign banks. Instead, the client should ask the sender to wire the transfer to their Manulife Bank account, in the currency of their account. For example, if the client has a US-dollar Manulife Bank account, the wire transfer must be sent in US dollars.
