Bank.ca Notice: Updates to Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) Fee
Effective March 12, 2026, the following changes will apply to NSF fee for Manulife Bank personal deposit accounts:
- The NSF fee will be reduced to $10 per occurrence
- A maximum of one NSF fee may be applied after 2 business days per account
- No NSF fee will be charged if the account is overdrawn by less than $10
- No changes to the Business accounts.
The NSF fee will be applicable on the following products:
- Personal Advantage Account (non-registered)
- All In Banking (AIB)
- Personal US$ Advantage Account
What this means
If a payment is processed and there aren’t enough available funds in your account at that time, the transaction may be declined, and an NSF fee may apply.
If the same payment is submitted again later, it may be treated as a new transaction.
To help avoid NSF fee situations, you may consider:
- Setting up balance alerts in Online Banking
- Reviewing scheduled payments regularly
- Maintaining a buffer in your account
- Exploring overdraft protection options
